Our story, mission, and the people behind senior safety education in London
reef-sable was founded in 2019 after our lead educator witnessed the devastating impact of fraud on older family members. What began as informal sessions at a Hackney community centre has grown into a dedicated organisation serving seniors across all 32 London boroughs.
We recognised that existing fraud awareness resources often missed the mark; they were either too technical, too condescending, or too removed from the real experiences of older Londoners. Our approach bridges that gap with practical, respectful education.
We exist to reduce the financial and emotional harm caused by fraud and poor financial decisions among London's senior population. Our work is guided by three core principles:
Too often, fraud awareness creates anxiety rather than confidence. We focus on building skills and knowledge that enable seniors to engage with modern finance safely, not retreat from it entirely. The goal is informed participation, not fearful isolation.
Our participants are intelligent adults with decades of life experience. We never talk down to them or assume they cannot learn. Many of our attendees quickly grasp complex concepts once presented clearly and without unnecessary jargon.
Every piece of information we share must have real-world utility. We do not teach theory for its own sake; we teach skills that can be applied immediately to protect oneself and loved ones from harm.

Our curriculum is not static. We continuously monitor emerging fraud trends through partnerships with Action Fraud, local police services, and trading standards offices. When new scam patterns emerge, we update our materials and alert our network of graduates.
Equally important is feedback from participants themselves. After each workshop, we gather detailed responses about what worked, what could be clearer, and what additional topics people want covered. This input directly shapes our course development.
Every instructor completes our internal training programme and undergoes regular observation sessions. We maintain consistent quality across all our workshops regardless of venue or instructor, ensuring every participant receives the same high standard of education.
We select venues with step-free access and hearing loop systems. Materials are available in large print format on request, and we can arrange BSL interpreters with advance notice. Financial barriers should not prevent anyone from accessing safety education, so we offer reduced rates for those on pension credit.
Thousands of London seniors have already taken steps to protect themselves. Explore our courses and take control of your financial safety.
